Be Aware of Fraudulent Housing Solicitations for APEC 2020
As a potential attendee of APEC 2020, you may be contacted by phone or email by outside housing companies to secure hotel reservations for APEC 2020, taking place March 15–19, 2020, in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. The intent is to convince you that the offer is made on APEC’s behalf, or that the soliciting company is a viable alternative to going directly to the hotel. These companies are not affiliated or working in partnership with APEC, and reservations made through these companies cannot be guaranteed.
APEC contracts directly with local area hotels. They are the only official representatives that can guarantee your reservation at the discounted rate.
Where to Book Reservations
Don’t be misled! Booking through the APEC website is the only way to ensure that you secure the APEC group rate, are able to modify or cancel your hotel reservations, and receive up-to-date event information.
When to Book
Housing for APEC 2020 will open later this fall. Only registered attendees will be able to book a room and take advantage of the discounted APEC group rate.
Why You Should Avoid Poachers
Room poachers make it more difficult for APEC to meet contracted room block commitments, thus exposing us to increased room rates and penalties that can severely and negatively impact conference finances. Room poachers often don’t deliver on promises to customers. When customers arrive, reservations are non-existent or the hotels are not conveniently located. Sometimes, the rooms have been cancelled and hefty cancellation fees have been placed on the customer’s credit card.
